Seven Killings

Killings names a controlling relationship, also called Indirect Officer. Traditional readings associate it with pressure, forceful demands, competition and challenges. The issue is how that control operates: whether the Day Master bears it, Eating God restrains it, or Resource mediates it into support. It is a role in a configuration, not a standalone bad-outcome label.

Seven Killings controls the Day Master and matches its polarity. Jia yang wood sees Geng yang metal as Seven Killings; Yi yin wood sees Xin yin metal in the same role. A controlling stem of opposite polarity is Direct Officer.

For Jia, Bing fire is Eating God and Geng metal is Killings. Bing controlling Geng underlies Eating God controlling Killings. Geng generating Ren water, then Jia, underlies Killings generating Resource. Pattern classification additionally examines season, exposed stems and relative strength.

Constructed example one: rooted Jia faces effective Geng and has rooted Bing Output. Jia generates Bing, which controls Geng: output regulates a demand. If Bing is weak or controlled by water, inspect whether this route still functions.

Example two adds Ren Resource between Geng and Jia: Geng generates Ren, then Ren generates Jia. This mediates control into support instead of directly restraining metal with fire. A work analogy contrasts meeting demands through capability with absorbing them through learning or institutional support. Roots, season and the full configuration determine pattern classification.
