Yong Shen

Yong Shen is the focal point of a method: what organizes the reading or addresses the configuration. Month-pattern selection, strength adjustment and seasonal conditioning answer different questions. Naming one element alone does not explain why it was selected, whether it is primary or assisting, or which relationship it addresses.

Zi Ping Zhen Quan selects Yong Shen from the month command and its relationship to the Day Stem to classify patterns. Strength-based selection instead assesses the Day Master and other elements; seasonal conditioning considers cold, warmth, dryness and moisture. A useful-element statement should identify its method.

For Jia wood in a You month, month-pattern selection starts with Xin metal inside You as Direct Officer. Strength analysis also checks roots, Resource, peers and draining or controlling elements. A missing element is a count, not a selection rule. Liuyao Yong Shen separately means the relationship selected to represent a question.

For Jia in You month, a month-pattern reading can center on Xin Officer, then examine Wealth supporting Officer and Resource connecting Officer to Jia. A strength reading of poorly rooted Jia may instead emphasize Water/Wood support. It changes the question, not Xin’s Ten God identity.

Favorable factors commonly assist the selected function, while unfavorable ones disrupt it, according to the method. If water is called useful, ask whether it generates wood, controls fire or addresses seasonal conditions. Its function explains the choice.
